POLICE are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a stolen car which was found burned out in Gunnedah on Monday.

The silver 2007 Holden Barina was first reported stolen from a Mitchell Street property between the hours of 7.30pm Sunday and 6am Monday.
The car was later found burned out at 2.30pm on the corner of Bushes Lane and Blackjack Road.
Fire crews were called to the scene to help extinguish the blaze.

Monday’s theft follows a spate of similar incidents in the Gunnedah region earlier this year.
A police spokesperson said it is vital for people to take care when securing their vehicle.
“It is so important for people to secure their car and belongings,” the spokesperson said.
“In light of this recent event we want to remind people to secure their belongings and to lock up or lose it.”
