GNA president Therese Jones said players can be slotted into teams right across the board – from the junior ranks through to seniors.
“There’s definitely places for people to slot into teams especially in the under 16s,” Jones said.
“We can slot players pretty much anywhere. There’s a few teams that could take on a few extra players.”
Jones said the winter netball season was shaping up to be a good one.
“We’re on par with last year [numbers-wise],” Jones said.
“We have nine teams in the opens, six in the under 16 and under and four teams in the 11-12 division – they’re all the competitive divisions.”
This Saturday’s games will start with the youngsters at 11am while the last opens matches of the day will kick off at 3pm.
Gunnedah’s representative players will then back up on Sunday for the Tamworth Netball Association Representative Carnival.
GNA will send six teams over to Tamworth including the 11s development team.
“This is the first year we’ve had an 11s development squad,” Jones said.
“There was a lot of interest in that age group so we put together a development squad so they’re up and going for next year [in the 12s].”
Along with the development team, Gunnedah Netball Association will have teams represented in the 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s and open divisions.
