LOCALS have had their say on shaping state government water reform at a consultation session hosted by the NSW Department of Industry, Lands and Water.

The sessions have been run across the state, and interested Gunnedah locals got their say at a consultation session at the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club on Wednesday.
Department of Industry’s executive director of water Charlie Dowsett said the consultations allowed people to help shape water policy surrounding better water management, floodplain harvesting, water metering measures and transparency.
“From a policy perspective there’s a difference between writing policy and the practical application of that policy position,” Mr Dowsett said.
“So what we are out here doing is discussing what is on all of these policy positions.”
The executive director said the methods of feedback were quite unique.
“We have used a variety of different feedback methods,” he said.
“One of the more memorable methods was using sticky notes and highlighters to help people identify exactly what is important to them.
“People have an opportunity for feedback on this reform, if they are fully informed or just have an opinion we are trying to capture all of that and really help people express their opinions.”

Mr Dowsett said people can still give their feedback on water reform.
