The team from the Gunnedah facility launched the fortnightly hangout program on Friday by taking clients to Narrabri for an evening of ten-pin-bowling.
Sunnyfield regional manger Ada Maughan said the program was new to Gunnedah.
“The hangout is for young people and is one of many core activities across the organisation,” Ms Maughan said.
“It’s about giving these young people the opportunity to go out and socialise with the right support just like everyone else.”
Ms Maughan said the program’s activities will be based on client feedback.
“Clients have the ability to choose the activities and for us it’s about responding to what they want to do and making it happen,” she said.
“We can take as many clients that want to come, honestly the more the merrier.”
The team from Sunnyfield also made their presence known at the Gunnedah community market on Saturday.
“Markets are always fun,” Ms Maughan said.
“It was a great opportunity to engage with our community, hand out some balloons and have a chat about our services.”

Sunnyfield will next host a pink ribbon cricket day on April 9 before hosting a movie premier evening on May 10.
“All the funds from the cricket day will go to the McGrath Foundation,” Ms Maughan said.
“The day is open to all the other disability services in town to come along and have fun playing cricket, taking part in raffles and coming together as a community.”
