Following a fundraising dinner at the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club on Saturday night, Gunnedah Health and Fitness Co has also thrown its support behind the Edmunds family by donating a running gift pack.

Brandon’s father and training partner Mick Edmunds said Saturday’s fundraiser organised by Gunnedah Meals on Wheels was very successful.

“It was a fantastic night, I think we raised somewhere between four and five thousand dollars,” Mr Edmunds said.

“The generosity was honestly through-the-roof and plenty of the silent auction items actually went for more than retail prices.

“We are just so grateful for all the support we have received from the Gunnedah community over the journey and to see more than 80 or 90 people at the fundraiser was just awesome.”

Gunnedah Health and Fitness Co owner Maryanne Perkins said the organisation was pleased to help.

“Running is a tool that you can use for happiness and take with you for the rest of your life,” Mrs Perkins said.

“I think it’s amazing what this family is doing, we pass each other while running quite often and I love with working with people with disabilities and I think they are amazing and inspiring.”

The Gunnedah personal trainer said the gift basket will help Brandon on achieve his running goals.

“We were looking to support Brandon regardless, but when he became our 1000^th follower on Facebook the timing was just perfect,” she said.

“This gift should hopefully have everything Brandon needs.

“I love his passion, I wish everyone had this kind of passion for running.”

Brandon will look to tackle The Alpine Mount Kosiousko 25km trail this weekend, a run which Mr Edmunds said wouldn’t be possible without the recent fundraiser.

“The funds will be pretty much used exclusively as a travel fund so-to-speak,” Mr Edmunds said.

“Accommodation can be expensive but as long we have the travel fund we know we will be able to get there.

“Honestly though, we can’t thank the community enough for their generosity and for getting behind the cause.”
