A MAJOR announcement on Gunnedah’s long-awaited rail overpass is expected to be handed down this afternoon.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson will deliver the announcement at the New Street railway crossing at 1.45pm in Gunnedah today.
It comes after the state government’s $8 million budget commitment last year – a figure well short of the estimated $58 million needed to complete the project.
Mr Anderson announced in July last year $8 million to commence the project, with an estimated start date of July this year.
The proposed road-over-rail bridge, which started as a $16 million project in 2012, has since been delayed by budget blowouts, with the latest estimate sitting at $58 million.
The Namoi Valley Independent will be live-streaming the announcement on our Facebook page at 1.45pm today.
