Councillors were presented with a draft of the community’s crime prevention plan for the next five years at last night’s council meeting, which highlighted the community’s crime priorities.
Crime Prevention Working Group chair councillor Colleen Fuller encouraged the community to give feedback on the proposed plan.
“The new plan outlines the community’s key priorities and concerns for our shire,” Cr Fuller said.
“We encourage community members to review the plan and provide feedback to council for consideration.”

Cr Fuller said the plan will give the community the opportunity to how the appropriate authorities will work towards a “crime-free community”.
“It sets out a clear path for how council, in partnership with other government and community organisations, including Oxley Local Area Command, Crime Prevention Working Group and Gunnedah Liquor Accord can strive to achieve a crime-free community,” she said.
“The community has identified how important community safety strategies are and this Plan outlines how we will deliver on addressing domestic and family violence, alcohol related offences, property crime and anti-social offences, such as vandalism and graffiti.”
Copies of the draft crime prevention plan are available at www.gunnedah.nsw.gov.au or from council’s administration building.
