There’s still time to take part in Blind Date with a Book if you haven’t already had the adventure of choosing a book you know nothing at all about! There are no indicators as to the type of book you have selected. It’s completely covered – so, like a blind date – you have no idea what you will be getting!
If you’re very lucky, you might be the reader who selects one of the books with the little red prize heart – bring the heart back to the library and win a prize.
Let the library know what you love about it or make suggestions for improvement, by writing a letter to the library - “I love my library because…”.
Plenty of new books have been added to the library shelves this week, including The Red Dirt Road by Alissa Callen - it’s “an Australian story about hope and healing”. Lovers of thrillers will enjoy Gilly Macmillan’s latest book, Odd Child Out, and those who enjoy historical novels can try Six Tudor Queens: Anne Boleyn, A King’s Obsession by Alison Weir. This is a book about “the young woman who changed the course of history”.
People who prefer fact to fiction, and are avid gardeners, could borrow Grow Your Own: How to be an Urban Farmer, which demonstrates how to grow food in backyards, balconies and courtyards. If you want a holiday, you could check out Explore Australia by Camper Trailer: 50 destinations with comprehensive maps - even if you aren’t travelling with a campervan, this is an excellent book.
Children could also enjoy Coding Projects with Scratch Made Easy. This book “introduces the basics of working with code using Scratch” and is aimed at beginner coders.
