The instrumental section will be the first cab off the ranks on May 25.
Kerrie Bush and Katrina King have been convenors of the section for four years and are encouraging entries.
“We’ve actually got less sections [this year],” Mrs King said.
“At the request of music teachers in town, the string and guitar categories have moved across to the music section so it’s primarily brass, percussion and any other instrumentation now.
“Probably our youngest with instruments are probably about 7 or 8 [of age]. We also have sections for older people who have just taken up an instrument, so it caters for anyone who has a passion for music.
As per usual, the instrumental section will be held at the Gunnedah Band Hall.
“Our numbers were increased in the previous two years, so we’d be happy with the same numbers as last year but if we get more, that’s brilliant,” Mrs King said.
“We think the eisteddfod is important. It improves confidence, it improves solo playing, it helps in their development of their music.”
