The program is available for all school children from kindergarten to year 12, and may mean that families won’t have to pay any sport registration fees at all.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said the program will see huge saving for local families registering kids to play sport.
“Cost should not be the determining factor as to whether or not you register your child to play sport or get active which is why the $100 rebate will make a difference to so many families,” Mr Anderson said.
The program has undergone pilot testing, which Mr Anderson said was a huge success.
“One family was registering three children for basketball and now for the first time ever they will not pay a single dollar in registration fees,” he said.
To receive the $100 rebate, parents can register online with Service NSW and follow the links to receive their voucher.
Mr Anderson said the rebate process is simple.
“The process is quick and very simple,” he said.
“And if you aren’t confident doing it online yourself head in to your local Service NSW centre where the staff can assist you.”
Parents have until December 31, 2018 to claim and use their voucher at sport.nsw.gov.au or by contacting Service NSW on 13 77 88.
