The community grants program was originally launched in Armidale in September 2016, and after allocating $80,000 to 48 groups, the program will now expand across the wider New England area.
Community groups from are encouraged to nominate to be part of the program, with the Greater to select three organisations each month, which will then be voted on by the community. The winner receives $3000, while runners-up each receive $1000.
Greater Bank’s chief executive officer, Scott Morgan, said the program underpins the bank’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves.
“As a customer-owned bank, we are committed to supporting the communities that support us,” Mr Morgan said.
“We’ve taken great delight in providing this funding initially in the Armidale area and seeing the impact it’s had on the beneficiaries. Given its success and popularity, we believed it was timely to expand the grants program into the wider New England area, including Tamworth and Gunnedah.
“The funding has made a real difference to the charities in Armidale, allowing them to establish new programs, upgrade equipment and facilities, and reach more people with their services. We know it will have a similar impact on groups in these new areas.”
“If you are involved in, or know of a community organisation or charity that is doing great things in Tamworth and Gunnedah or the surrounding areas, let us know about them.”
