The six-round Twenty20 competition will start on Friday, January 19 with registrations closing on January 12.
The registrations are half full at the moment and Gunnedah District Cricket Association secretary James Mack has called on players to get their forms in.
“Anyone, from any town can register – even if they’re not playing cricket on Saturdays,” Mack said.
“They can go to Autopro [in Gunnedah], fill in the form and leave it there. We aim for 14-15 players per side to allow for guys being away.”
From there, players are put into a pool before the four captains take turns picking players to fill their lists.
Mack said this system had been successful in the past in keeping the competition as even as possible.
“It’s been pretty even most years,” Mack said.
“Some sides look a lot stronger on paper but when they get on the field it evens out.”
This year’s sides are sponsored by LR Golf and Sports/SED Spinnerbaits, Sign Print Stitch, The Imperial Hotel and Tamba Industrial.
On the captaining side of things, Sam Doubleday and Luke Ryan are co-sponsoring and co-captaining LR Golf and Sports/SED Spinnerbaits together.
Mitchell Swain is the only other captain locked in at the moment.
Registration costs $50 for GDCA-registered players and $70 for everyone else. If numbers are too high, anyone not selected in a side will get their registration fee back. Competition matches will be played on Friday evenings at Kitchener Park.
