
LOCAL kids will have no shortage of fun activities this summer thanks to Gunnedah Shire Council’s school holiday program.
The school holiday fun kicks off on January 8 and highlights of the programs first week include big screen gaming at the Gunnedah Town Hall from 10.am on Monday, while Tuesday morning sees kids take part in the 48hr youth week short film competition at The Smithurst Theatre from 10.am.
Wednesday sees an all-day excursion to Armidale where the local youth can try their hand at ice-skating, bowling and lazer tag. The excursion costs $30 per child and departs from Gunnedah Shire Council at 8.30am on January 10.
The kids can also settle in for a movie afternoon at the Gunnedah Town Hall on Friday starting at 4.30pm.
Week two of the school holiday program is just as action packed with the Tambar Springs Public School hosting a family fun day at the school from 2.pm to 6.pm on January 15.
Tuesday sees kids trying their hand at puppet theatre with a puppet making workshop at the The Smithhurst Theatre between 2.pm and 4.30pm, while Wednesday gives the youngsters a chance to bring their favorite cartoon heroes to life with a cartoon art workshop at the Creative Arts Gallery Studio from 2.pm.
Gunnedah Conservatorium caps off the week two electronic music workshops. Primary school aged kids will find their beat between 10.am and 12.pm while the older kids will strike a chord between 1.pm and 4.pm on January 19.
The Gunnedah Library will be running daily activities for children of all ages such as storytelling for children and junior brain games.
