Bands from both schools combined to provide musical entertainment and backing for the students who sang carols.
The evening opened with a Christmas blessing from St Joseph’s Parish Priest Fr John McHugh, with the arrival of Santa later in the evening causing great excitement.
The evening was hosted by senior students from St Mary’s, who also acted out the Christmas story of the nativity, complete with the three kings, an angel and shepherds.
Now in its second year, an estimated crowd of around 500 people attended the carols, with the convent gardens providing a perfect backdrop to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
