As they so often have done this season, Jenkinson and Ryan gave nothing away, Kookaburras limping to 5-43 after 20 overs before replying to Albion’s 8-187 with 9-70.
Jenkinson conceded only two runs from his six overs and was “unlucky again”, Mack said as his wicket-drought continued. At the other end Ryan captured 2-9 before Garry Briggs claimed 3-15, Jamie Eveleigh 2-3 and Will Maggs 2-13, Kookaburras Skipper Shane Riordan (18) the only batsmen to make double figures.
“We did bowl quite well bowled nice lines, I don’t think we gave away too many extras which good. The previous weeks we leaked a few extras,” Mack said.
He was also impressed with Ash White on debut.
”He was pretty unlucky. I dropped an absolute dolly at mid-off - he should have had his maiden wicket.
“He’s got a nice easy action. He’s got a bit of height on his side too so can get balls to shoot off a length a bit,” he said.
Earlier Mack had continued his brilliant season with the bat with 60. Brother James also chimed in with 22, Jenkinson 22 and Hayden Baker 28 before White (17no) and Briggs (21no) provided some valuable late runs.
Happy to score a few runs and do his job for the team at the top of the order, Mack noted Baker’s knock.
“He did really well,” he said of the 15-year-old.
“He batted in the middle stages, which is always the key to any innings.”
“When you have a good start it’s about consolidating through the middle.”
“I was pretty happy with the total we put on the board.”
“We batted pretty close to the 40.”
Vinnie Winsor was Kookaburra’s best with the ball, his toils earning him 5-22.
Saturday was the final game for the year.
“I’m pretty happy with how we are situated, hopefully in the new year we can continue that on,” Mack said.
