Students from St Mary’s College pitched in on Thursday to help put Christmas hampers together for local famillies in need.
Secretary of the St Vincent de Paul conference Jacinta Stanley said “it is great to see young people helping out.”
“All of the products going into the hampers have been donated by local schools, Centerlink and the nursing home,” Ms Stanley said.
“I think it is really important for our youth to be thinking about people less fortunate at this time of year.”
Ms Stanley said all of the hamper goods will go to help locals in need this Christmas.
“All of the hampers are going to people in the Gunnedah region,” she said.
“We have farmers, people in town and a couple in Boggabri as well.”
Ms Stanley said the hampers “could not have been done” without the generoisity of the community.
“Schools like St Mary’s and St Xaviers have been a huge help,” she said.
“Id really like to thank not only the schools but Centerlink, Probus, the nursing home and everyone for all their very generous monetary donations we have received.”
