This Christmas, the Gunnedah Rural Museum will be helping locals do just that as they encourage the community to pay the museum a visit.
Museum member Owen Tydd said the exhibit is “fun for the whole family.”
“In the week leading up to Christmas we will be running our trains from 7pm to 10pm,” Mr Tydd said.
“There’ll be lights all over the place and it will give the whole place a nice family atmosphere.”
Mr Tydd said entrance to the museum exhibit will be free.
“We won't be charging people entry,” he said.
“We will be having a little donation box that if people want to donate to they can.”
Fellow museum member Ken Jones said the event was “for the kids”.
“It’s basically for the kids,” Mr Jones said,
“The little ones and the big kids as well.”
The Rural Museum gift shop will also getting into the festive spirit by offering a variety of Christmas gift options.
Museum member Sandra Tydd said the shop had plenty of great gift ideas.
“There is something here for everyone,” Mrs Tydd said.
“We have lots of folk art, arts and crafts and homemade preserves.
“Really there are plenty of gift ideas for everyone.”
Mrs Tydd said all the gifts have been made by volunteers.
“All the gifts here are unique, made by volunteers and made by hand,” she said.
“Most of the items are made by volunteers who also work in the gift shop and take a lot of pride in these items.”
Mrs Tydd said proceeds from items sold in the gift shop will go towards supporting the museum.
“Proceeds will go towards the shop and the museum,” she said.
“Along with entry, the sales will go towards the museum.”
