Current chamber of commerce president Micheal Broekman said it had been a busy year for the chamber.
“It’s been flat out,” Mr Broekman said.
“The AGM will be good recognition of a great year’s worth of work in Gunnedah”
Mr Broekman said the chamber had worked hard at promoting the ‘shop local campaign’ over the past year.
“The whole community has been working towards stronger business community,” he said.
“Shop Local and training the community in getting ready for tendering and understanding the tendering process has been very high on our agenda.”
All positions within the chamber of commerce will be up for election at the AGM and Mr Broekman is encouraging all members of the Gunnedah business community to stand for election.
“The town is only as good as you want to make it,” he said.
“We are encouraging anyone who want’s to get involved and make a difference to put their hand up.”
“It’s also important for the business community to attend the AGM to see what the executive are doing around town.”
Mr Broekman said he will stand for a position at the AGM.
“I’m hoping I will get a position,” he said.
“With all positions up for election who knows what that position will be but it is important to get new ideas and new energy into the executive.”
After the AGM, the Chamber of Commerce will be heading to the state business awards in Sydney on November 10. The awards ceremony comes after being named local chamber of the year at the New England North West Regional Business Awards in September.
Other award winners included Wholegrain Milling Company who was named Regional Business of the Year and also the Excellence in Innovation Category and Riley’s Furniture and Carpets who was a dual-winner in the Start-up Superstar category.
