Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson, said Roads and Maritime Services will carry out work to resurface a 400m section of the highway between Blackjack Road and Alford Road.
Work will start from October 23, with changed conditions between 6pm and 5am.
There will be temporary lane closures and a reduced 40 km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours for the safety of workers and motorists.
The work is expected to be completed in five nights, weather permitting.
“We are getting on with the job of making sure our road networks continue to see improvements,” Mr Anderson said.
“It’s not just major works like upgrades, new overtaking lanes and new roundabouts that are important, it’s also the resurfacing work which makes up part of our record investment in regional roads.”
Work will also involve improving drainage and maintenance of vegetation.
