Instigator and former Gunnedah resident, Wayne Irwin, said he was still hoping to get 100 participants for the Let’s Beat the Bastard Ride in November.
“Over the past couple of months, we have gathered a lot of support and interest for the ride and the donation of items for the raffle is amazing,” he said.
“We have decided to run raffles only instead of an auction. Tickets are available from the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club, Turner’s Motorcycles, Autopro Gunnedah, Browns Tyre service and Namoi Valley Motors.”
Among the items to be raffled in Gunnedah are a 49cc mini dirt bike, bar fridge and two nights accommodation at the Mackellar Motel.
Mr Irwin said local businesses had been hugely supportive of the venture.
Riders will leave Gunnedah at 9.30am on Saturday, November 18. The 400-kilometre route will take in Gunnedah, Narrabri, Wee Waa and Pilliga – the village where Mr Irwin grew up.
Mr Irwin would like to know numbers by mid-October and will need email addresses to send through to the foundation. The cost per person for the ride is $50.
