The aged care facility is utilising a little-used space near the village homes to create a putting green and barbecue area.
Chief executive officer, Sandra Strong, said Mackellar Care received a $5000 grant from the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal to put the putting green plan into action.
“We’ve got a few residents who play golf and we thought if the families were visiting, they might like to put on the green,” she said.
Maintenance staff have levelled the area, built up the retaining wall around it, and completed edging to separate garden areas from the green. A “cardiac” path has also been created to lead up to the green and provide a safe area for pedestrians to walk.
Mrs Strong said Mackellar Care was still deciding what type of turf to use, and was also looking at installing a barbecue alongside the putting green, which is near a rotunda with seating.
