A guest from NSW Department of Fair Trading will speak at 10am prior to the meeting so members are asked to arrive by 9.45am for morning tea. Lyn Sanson is hostess and Elaine Bridge will supply the competition prize.
Ogunbil Dungowan Garden Club will be visiting Gunnedah that day and members are encouraged to meet them at the Lions Park after the meeting.
Following the March meeting, Gunnedah Garden members enjoyed a visit to Gunnedah Rural Museum. Of particular interest was the Model Train Restoration project, co-ordinated by Owen Tydd and fellow museum volunteers. Garden club members made a donation towards landscaping as well as suggesting suitable plants to enhance the project area.
At the April meeting, members were treated to an interesting presentation on Myanmar from Ann Penrose who recently enjoyed a cruising holiday on the historic Irrawaddy River. Ann shared some examples of traditional artefacts to complement her presentation. The annual plant swap was also held after the meeting
Tamworth Club Garden Club hosted an enjoyable Friendship Day recently in a country garden at Attunga. Highlights included a demonstration of floral art and a fashion parade.
The Garden Club Zone Picnic day will be held at Nundle on Saturday, May 20. Members attending are reminded to meet at the Gunnedah Memorial Pool’s front car park at 7.55am.
Ogunbil Dungowan Garden Club is holding its annual luncheon on Monday, June 19.
The guest speaker will be Lyn Walker who is well known as a gardening writer and coordinator of the former Open Garden Scheme in the Northern Region.
Cost for the luncheon is $25, with payment,numbers attending and travel arrangements to be finalised at the May meeting. Deposits for the Moree trip in October are also due by June 19.
