Greyhounds on show in Gunnedah

With the Armidale Carnival of Cups over for another year, racing returns to Gunnedah on Saturday night.

Punters will be treated to a bumper eight-race Non-TAB card, with the opener at 7.15pm and last at 9.35pm.

One of the headline races on the card is the Grade 4/5 Stakes (440m).

Trainer Allan Ivers appears to have a strong hand in the event after Sketchy Finish drew box one and kennelmate Plaza Princess emerged with gate three.

Sketchy Finish, an 18-time race winner, boasts a best of 25.24 seconds at this trip, but that came at just her fourth start.

Plaza Princess may not quite have the same credentials, but does possess some toe.

The consistent Wallamba Smokey must not be discounted, while if Super Kadani can repeat his 24.89 sec run from October 2016, he would take beating.

The distance event of the card, the Kancool Pet Food Stakes (512m) for the Grade 5 chasers, features three customers to have broken 31 seconds – Bronte’s Choice (30.92 best), Sketchy Mel (30.79 best) and Sketchy Amber (30.70 best).
