Last week we asked the NVI’s Twitter @nvi_gunnedah followers: should we shorten NSW's daylight saving period from six months to four?
In four days the poll tallied 17 votes. Of those who responded, 76 per cent were in favour of a reduction in daylight saving months and 24 per cent were against.
Gunnedah’s Judith Law, who has been a long-time campaigner against daylight saving, considered the result a reflection on the majority of local opinion.
“I think [the community] does want it reduced and always has,” Mrs Law said. “I don’t think it’s unreasonable to reduce the months.”
The survey stemmed from a failed council motion which council was to endorse and seek government backing for a reduction in daylight saving months.
