The clay target club will host competitors from around NSW, each vying for qualification points toward state team selection.
Matthew Duncan and Helen Overton will lead the local push in a field of more than 100 shooters.
Also expected to line up will be 2015 NSW state championship winner, Peter Kay from Dubbo.
Gunnedah Sporting Clays spokesman Scott Kelly was chuffed to host some of the state’s best.
He said the club’s new ranges and improvements were key drawcards for competitors.
“A lot of them have held off to come to Gunnedah,” Kelly said.
Competition continues on Sunday as the club hosts its annual Westpac Rescue Helicopter charity shoot.
This will be their third year raising funds for the vital air asset.
