Sixteen-year-old St Mary’s student and Australian Junior Trick-Riding champion Miah Bryant will take centre stage on Saturday afternoon with the High Velocity Trick Riding troupe.
The show is billed as “daredevil riders testing the limits of what’s possible on horseback”.
Miah, who as a 15-year-old stunned the 2015 Sydney Royal Ester Show crowd to blitz a strong international field to take out the Junior Trick Riding Title, is part of the HighVelocity entourage and she will perform with her coloured horse Nitro as well as with her other pony Mingo to form a sensational Roman team.
The Mullaley local partners with Nitro and Mingo in an impressive display of horsemanship and teamwork.
Standing astride her horses, Miah puts them through their paces in a display of grace, balance and artistry.
Spectators at the two shows, at 3.30pm and 6.50pm on Saturday, will also see Miah and other members of the High Velocity team performing tricks such as sitting, bowling, laying down and much more in a hilarious act featuring an unlikely bank robber fumbling through a crime scene.
Stunts such as the popular Cossack Drag while have spectators gasping at the ability and teamwork of both horse and rider as riders hang upside down by one leg with their hands dragging in the dirt.
At her first competition in 2010, Miah won the Steph Coldstream Encouragement award.
Fast forward to the national championships held at the 2015 Sydney Royal Easter Show and 15-year-old Miah blitzed strong international talent to take out the junior trick riding title, winning a trophy saddle and buckle before going on to also win the open Roman Riding championship title.
It all began six years ago when Miah’s 10th birthday present was a spot in a HighVelocity Trick Riding clinic.
She and her pony club horse at the time “Chester” took to the demands of the sport easily and she was eventually invited to join the team.
When she’s not performing up and down the east coast with HighVelocity Trick Riding, the Year 10 student also competes successfully in eventing, pony club and showjumping.
