The pint-sized Gunnedah Little Athletics runner broke the under 7 boys, 100m record at Sunday’s Armidale gala day.
His time of 17.24 seconds was the fastest at that carnival since 1983.
Making the feat even more remarkable is that just a few months earlier, Hayden underwent surgery for a ruptured appendix.
The achievement continued a good run of form for the Year 2 Gunnedah South School student who also broke the 200m club record for his age last year.
Mum, Talie, couldn’t be more proud of her young track star, describing his record-breaking run as an “amazing performance”.
