The squad will fly to Colombo in June to play T20 and 50-over matches against local teams with the aim of developing athletes with limited International touring experience.
The touring group features NSW Lend Lease Breakers players including Nicola Carey, Lauren Smith and Naomi Stalenberg as well as some of the best talent from the NSW youth program.
Cricket NSW is committed to providing players a world class training environment, and is constantly seeking new and innovative methods of challenging athletes and provide a range of diverse experiences.
Leys represented NSW at Under 15, Under 17 and Under 18 National Youth Championships before moving to Sydney for university studies.
She sided with Gordon in the Sydney Women’s First Grade competition and last season debuted for the NSW Breakers in the Women’s National Cricket League.
Since her debut in October last year, Leys has played four state matches for her Breakers side in Sydney and Brisbane.
A talented allrounder, Leys combines left-arm medium pace with her batting prowess in the middle order.
The touring squad will be under the guidance of Breakers assistant coach Ben Sawyer, as well as former Breakers player and Cricket NSW Female Pathways manager Leah Poulton.
“It’s an opportunity for the girls to play cricket in conditions they may not have experienced before,” Poulton said.
“The tour will give the squad an idea of what to expect from an overseas tour, as well as giving them some invaluable match experience in both T20 and 50-over formats.”
