A small kitchenette area located behind the midwives station, used by new mothers, visitors and staff, was in its original condition and in need of a transformation.
The PRAMS committee has now ticked the kitchen off their project list after it was recently completed.
The project totalled about $5000 thanks to donated labour and services.
The upgrade included full renovations, with a number of new appliances and a bench top with bar stools.
The PRAMS committee, with the help of Andrew Street and Tom Donoghue demolished the old kitchen and painted it after Simon Duff prepared the old walls.
Ben Gilbert donated his time and installed the flat pack kitchen, after PRAMS members put the cupboards together.
Eddie Etheridge and Luke Johnston also donated their time completing tiling and electrical work.
The committee thanked Scott Cannon from Reece Plumbing, Mitre 10, Gunnedah Trade Waste and Stockholm Florist for discounted and donated items.
“We wouldn’t have been able to get the job done, and so cost effectively without the help of all these generous people,” co-ordinator Kim Street said.
“We hope people will be able to use and appreciate the new facility.
“It will make such a different to patients and staff to have a brand new area.”
The PRAMS committee raises funds throughout the year to fund projects at the Gunnedah Hospital.
