A 72-YEAR-OLD Ross Road man has appealed his nine-month jail term imposed over a drink-driving conviction.
Vincent Mills had pleaded guilty to driving with a mid-range blood-alcohol level when he appeared before Magistrate Pearce earlier this month.
Mr Pearce sentenced Mills to nine months behind bars with a non-parole period of six months and also imposed a $500 fine for driving without a licence.
Mills was arrested at 2am on the morning of August 15.
His appeal on the grounds of severity will be heard in Tamworth District Court next Monday.
A 29-YEAR-OLD man has appealed the severity of his 18-month jail sentence imposed by a Gunnedah Local Court Magistrate earlier this month.
John Gordon, of Beulah Street, appeared before Magistrate Pearce on five separate charges including one of being armed with the intent to commit an indictable offence.
Gordon entered a plea of not guilty and evidence in the matter was sound recorded.
At the conclusion of the hearing, Mr Pearce found the charge had been proven and sentenced Gordon to 18 months behind bars with a 12-month non-parole period.
Pearce was also convicted on a charge of stealing which earned him a nine-month fixed term stint behind bars as well as four months for shoplifting and two months for offensive behaviour.
A second offensive behaviour matter was dismissed.
Gordon’s appeal will be heard in the Tamworth District Court next Monday.
