There’s Something in the Pilliga is the story of four people who are hunted down in the Pilliga Forest by a creature known as the Jingra (outback yowie).
Mr Millerd is currently in negotiations with distributors to bring the offbeat horror film to the big screen by the end of the year or early next year.
There’s Something in the Pilliga had its beginnings in 2005 when Mr Millerd’s cousin Tracey Gaynor shared an experience she had in the Pilliga 20 years earlier. Two men had played tricks on Tracey and a friend, pretending to be the Pilliga yowie.
The film was shot in the Pilliga State Forest in May, 2011.
“I spent a total of 16 days out there shooting and at least 60 to 90 days camping, driving around and doing research but I wouldn’t have even covered a microcosm of what’s there,” Mr Millerd told The Forbes Advocate.
“There’s so much to see and so much that hasn’t been seen.”
He described the film as “Razorback meets Wolf Creek meets Housos”.
Mr Millerd said while the film was likely to meet the approval of people within the 18 to 39 age group, it should also appeal “to the masses”.
