The majority of pylons to carry the rail beams have now been erected and hoisted into position.
The abutments for the rail bridge over the Kamilaroi Highway are now well advanced and preparations are under way to lift the bridge beams into place.
Mining equipment is also being delivered to site with the Hitachi EX3600 and EX8000 excavators being assembled.
The first deliveries of haul truck components have been delivered to site.
The company’s quarterly report shows Whitehaven’s coal sales for the year were 10.8 million tonnes – an increase of 22 per cent on the previous year.
The first coal at Maules Creek is expected to be railed in March 2015.
