Li'l Achievers granted occupancy but still waiting on licensing from DET

Li’l Achievers is a step closer to opening the doors on its new building.

The long day care centre has been granted occupancy by Gunnedah Shire Council but is now waiting on licensing through the Department of Education and Training. A representative will visit the centre to check that it meets all the requirements.

Linda Gallagher updates NVI on the Li’l Achievers expansion.

New director Linda Gallagher said it’s now a “waiting game” for staff and parents who have enrolled their children in anticipation of the expansion’s completion.

“When we get [licensing], it will be all go,” Ms Gallagher said.

When the expansion is signed-off, the centre will be able to provide up to 80 places a day, instead of the current 24 places. Owner Brooke Patriquin said the expansion will help to meet demand for child care in Gunnedah.

Staff have already spent time in the new building setting up furniture, toys and resources. In the grounds, soft-fall is being laid and landscaping is under way.
