Tradies are swarming over the construction site in a bid to finish work on the expansion on Monday.
A whole new building has been built alongside the original building to enable the centre to offer 80 places per day to help meet demand for child care.
Owner Brooke Patriquin said the work was meant to finish on Wednesday but there was still a lot to do. Once the work is complete, Gunnedah Shire Council will need to inspect the premises and decide whether to grant an occupancy certificate. If the certificate is granted, Li’l Achievers can apply for licensing through the Department of Education, which would enable the centre to open the doors on the new building.
“We’re looking like operating on October 6,” Mrs Patriquin said.
“I’ve got families ready to come now.
“So many families need more than two days because they’re going back to work.”
Li’l Achievers potentially has 111 enrolments, which will spread across the five days the centre is open.
“We’re meeting the demand,” Mrs Patriquin said.
The owner said the staff were excited about having a new space and were already brainstorming ideas. A number of new staff are also coming on board.
“It’s just a waiting game for everyone,” she said.
One of the new staff members is Linda Gallagher who took on the position of director in early October.
“I’m loving it,” she said.
“It’s like I’ve been here for years.”
Mrs Gallagher said she was excited about the school readiness program, which is now enrolling 4 to 5 year olds.
“The curriculum has been written for the school readiness program and we have parent handbooks with all the learning objectives,” she said.
