Mick Bradfield overcame the tricky conditions and the in-form Hugh Evans to take the line honours.
The Breeza sailor has now won both heats of the series after finishing ahead of Evans in the first heat earlier this month.
Evans though had had the better of the racing since, beating Bradfield in both the Commodore's Shield race and mini-regatta the weekend previous.

Robert Kelly, who club commodore Tim Corben said, is mastering "strong wind sailing really well" was third.
With the conditions, he said, most of the laser sailors reverted to a radial rig.
Robbie Cull "missed the memo" but "perfected his capsize and recovery techniques" to finish fourth.
"The rest of us found excuses not to start, to pull out, or just head home," Corben reported.
Fingers are crossed for "a nice steady breeze" for this weekend's third heat of the club championship series.
