Staff and students at Tamworth Public School have been told to self-isolate until they receive further notice, after a member of the school community tested positive for COVID-19.

Principal Christopher Connor notified parents on Wednesday night, that the school site would be non-operational "effective immediately" to allow time for contact tracing and cleaning.
"The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times," he said in a statement.

"As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to.
"While we recognise this will be disruptive and inconvenient for families, it is important that we follow NSW Health advice and take all necessary precautions to minimise the risk of further transmission to support our community.
"Thank you for your ongoing support."
An additional six cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Tamworth in the 24 hours leading up to 8pm on Tuesday.
Armidale also reported a confirmed case of the virus, making it three this week after two were found on Monday.
NSW recorded 304 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and three deaths in the 24 hours to 8pm on Tuesday, with a single case in an international traveller.
On the vaccination front 93.2 per cent of people aged 16 or older have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in NSW.
