TRAVELLERS in the area can look forward to the sealing of several routes after the state government announced it would spend more than $23 million on roads in the region this year.

Watsons Creek Road in the Tamworth region, near Bendemeer, will be sealed under the program to connect with the recently finished Retreat Road.
Hunts Road in Gunnedah and Forest Way in the Walcha shire will be sealed while Aberbaldie Road, in the same area, will receive maintenance works.

"This round of funding will help our councils address those urgent repair and sealing works and build on our ever-improving regional road network," Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said.
Fixing Local Roads and is a NSW government program initiative worth more than $500 million, which has been boosted by the federal government. This announcement marks the third round of funding.
Transport Minister Paul Toole said the projects are designed to deliver safer journeys on the regional routes used by families and agriculture workers every day.
"We know that sometimes its small projects that can drive big benefits in the bush," he said.
