The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has announced that while a strong cold front is expected to move over eastern NSW on Tuesday, rainfall across the flood watch area has mostly eased.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely for the rest of the week as the BOM continues to monitor the situation.

A moderate flood warning is current for the Belubula river at Canowindra.

The river at may peak near 4 metres late Tuesday evening, with moderate flooding.

Further catchment warnings will be issued if and when they are required.

A FLOOD watch has been issued for the Peel, Namoi, Belubula and Bell rivers as a cold front passes through the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) issued the minor warning on Monday in preparation for moderate rainfall and a low pressure system developing off the NSW coast.

The system has the potential to cause local and riverine flooding from Tuesday.

"Catchments likely to be affected by flooding are currently close to saturation following recent rainfall or are expected to become saturated with forecast rainfall," the BOM statement said.

"The weather system is expected to cause flooding for the catchments listed for Monday and into Tuesday.

"This flood watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop."

Flood warnings will be issued if the minor flood level is expected to be breaches at key sites along the main rivers.
