The team travelled to Narrabri with Team Coach Mr Owen to start the 2021 Premier's Shield Debating Competition.
The QHS team comprised of Rudi Walker - Sangster, Shania McNamee, Tanya McNamee and Lachlan Stenner.
"The 2-hour trip to Narrabri proved a perfect time to brainstorm ideas and finalise team roles," Mr Owen said.
The topic chosen on the day was 'that same sex schools should be banned.'
Quirindi drew the negative, and only had 1 hour to prepare their case, with no help allowed from coach Mr Owen.
Rudi opened the debate for the Quirindi side, and rebutted the affirmatives early arguments and introduced the key points for the negative.

Tania was second speaker and also was able to extend the Quirindi argument whist highlighting the flaws in the oppositions team line.
Third speaker Shania crushed any chance of the affirmative winning, with a methodical, logical and sustained attack on all of their points.
Lachlan was kept busy listening to all speakers and assisting in formulating counter arguments.
The adjudicator Mrs Slack-Smith was in no doubt that Quirindi was the clear winner of the debate.
Team coach Mr Owen is extremely proud of the team.
"Students stepped up to present an excellent debate with limited time to prepare beforehand," he said.
The next step is debating two teams from Peel in the coming weeks, and the team say they're looking forward to the next challenge.
