The 2020 edition of the Gunnedah Cup was one of a handful of meetings shifted from Riverside Racecourse last year due to the jockey rooms not being big enough to comply with COVID-19 regulations.
There was no such problems in 2021 and a healthy crowd was on hand to cheer on winners throughout the day.
One of those winners was Gunnedah trainer Gavin Groth who took out the Ultra Fleet Benchmark 58 Showcase Handicap (2050m) with Bring The Joy.
With Casey Waddell aboard, Bring The Joy scored by 0.27 lengths over the Lea Selby-trained The Equinator.
The jockey-trainer duo also combined in the Gunnedah Cup to finish third with Redemption Road.
The cup was won by Tamworth trainer Cody Morgan with Bajan Gold.
