It was the performance of Kangaroos centre half forward Jack Dadd.
"I think they were a bit cleaner with ball and Jack Dadd's a big tall target up front - he tore us apart," Mack said.
"Des Tuckerman marked him the majority of second quarter and the first but once we had to shift a few magnets, he [Dadd] was the difference in the end.
"He takes everything at the highest point and he's a tall fella. Credit to him. He's only a young fella and it's good to see, albeit it would be nice for it to be someone on our side, it's good to see a young fella doing well."

Mack also thought the Dogs used the handball a bit too much at times but still took positives away from the game.
The team has a mix of old and new players with several standing out for Mack.
Ben Maher was "his usual self" and won a lot of ball while Sam Proudfoot and Nick Ferguson were both strong through the middle.
He also thought his brother, James, was huge leading the backline around.
"He cut off a lot of attack from the Roos with good at times with good positioning," Mack said of his brother.
"It could have been a lot worse if it wasn't for him."
While the men didn't get a win, the Gunnedah women's side scored a comfortable 60-point win over the Roos.
It continues their good form at the start of the year after winning the Crossroads Cup the week before.
The Gunnedah club will now turn their focus to round two when they host matches at Wolseley Oval this Saturday.
The under 14s will kick off the day against the Tamworth Roosters at 10.30am before the women take on Moree.
The men will close out the day when the Dogs take on the Moree-Narrabri joint venture.
Moree-Narrabri come into the weekend off a first-up win over the New England Nomads.
Mack said he was expecting a good game.
"It'll be a good challenge for us. Having seen them at the Crossroads Cup, I think they've improved," Mack said.
"They have a couple Narrabri boys and some young fellas that are that year older... it's going to be a big challenge."
