Whether it be food, retail or anything in between, locals are encouraged to register their interest and become part of history.

A huge amount of time and effort was put into planning the event last year, however COVID-19 restrictions got in the way which came as a disappointment for the committee in charge and the community in general.

Designed to showcase local foods and businesses, there is still a lot of hype around what the festival will look like and how many visitors it can attract.

Gunnedah Shire councillor Colleen Fuller is on the Harvest Gunnedah committee, and said it is a fantastic opportunity for the region to show off some of its best attractions and products.

"It's about promoting local community businesses plus all the industries that are out there that half the people don't know about," she said.

"Like the lovely lavender farm that's in Gunnedah, no one knows much about it but to have that there is really good for the community.

"I reckon we can really promote it all very well, all those industries we can really boost and give a good leg-up for them."

On top of the stalls, the Harvest Festival will also include a produce market, live music and entertainment, children's entertainment, demonstrations from local growers and celebrity chefs.

Given the size of the event, Cr Fuller is confident it will deliver a large crowd full of people from different regions, especially given the event falls on Monday of the Labour Day long weekend.

The festival has received funding of $17,000 through the Australian Government's Building Better Regions Fund, along with $20,000 awarded to the Gunnedah Jockey Club through the Back to the Track program.
