The money, which was raised at the former's Christmas bowls event, will now go towards financially helping members of the community who are fighting cancer.
Given the Garden Club's desire for the funds it raises to stay in the community, Can Assist was an obvious choice due to its local knowledge and wealth of experience in the cancer assistance sector.
"The funds will be great to help our cancer patients for any treatment that they have, any ancillaries they need help with and to help out with fuel vouchers and things like that," said GCA president Kate Knight.
As explained by GGC, each year the proceeds of their bowls event goes to a different community group.

"Every year at Christmas time, members decide which local charity or group to support and the amount to be donated," said a spokesperson.
"Then at our Christmas lunch, each member places a donation into the 'Christmas bowl', if this does not reach the required amount, we top it up from funds.
"A representative from the chosen group is invited along to our meeting and is presented with a cheque.
"The GGC always supports local groups so money raised is used locally, last year we supported Gunnedah MS."
Members of the community will do doubt be hoping to see the relationship between the two groups exist long into the future.
