Gunnedah Shire Council's Medical Professionals Accommodation Support policy is currently on public exhibition for review with written submissions accepted until 4pm on February 11.
The policy outlines council's management of temporary accommodation for health professionals and a number of support measures to help attract and retain health services and workers in the Gunnedah community - an issue the town has struggled with for a long time.
Council currently owns two units located at 6 Davis Avenue, Gunnedah which are leased out to local medical professionals and students at a subsidised rate.
The policy was amended in November 2020 to include a subsidy arrangement for external accommodation sourced by medical professionals in the Gunnedah shire.
The document can be viewed at Gunnedah Shire Council's Administration Building, 53 Elgin Street, Gunnedah or on their website.
