The Gunnedah Show Society is encouraging girls between the age of 18 and 25 (senior) and 15 to under 18 (junior) to throw their hat into the ring and gain valuable experience across a number of different disciplines.
Becoming a showgirl is not only a huge honour, but a huge opportunity these days as the winner gets to attend numerous events within the community.
They also compete for the regional - and should they win that - state showgirl title which allows them to improve their leadership skills and enhance their maturity.
Having those attributes is even required for those entering the competition and local level, as described by convener Stacey Breed.

"It is a competition that judges the girls and selects them based on their commitment to the community, commitment to the show, it gives them the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people," she said.
"It gives them the opportunity to go through an interview judging process, which can be really helpful particularly for the younger girls for future job interviews and things like that, so it upskills them as well."
With the event being cancelled due to COVID-19 last year, the Society is hoping for a lot of entrants this time around and is looking forward to finally crowning a new showgirl - having gone through all the motions and procedures before having to pull the pin in 2020.
