"And the timing was just right after winning the Aussie title - our coach [David Syphers] thought it was the right time," she said.
The 29-year-old - who amassed 13 wins against four losses as an amateur - is feeling "pretty confident" about her chances against Chan.
"We've got a good team behind us," she said.
"And I've definitely got the experience of David [Syphers] to get me over the line.
"So, I'm feeling pretty confident fitness wise, and training's been pretty good ... I feel as though it's the right step at the right time."
Prest said winning a world title was the ultimate goal.

Prest has been in a long-term relationship with fellow Syphers-trained boxer Wade Ryan, who fights for the Australian super welterweight championship in Cessnock on Saturday week.
"I'm very bless to have him as a partner and have him as a motivator as well," she said of Ryan. "So, he's always got the knowledge - and he's a great training partner as well."
