Simon Waller is taking on the position at Gunnedah Anglican Church, taking over from Scott Dunlop.
Mr Waller moved here with his wife, Jenny, and their youngest son, Alex, who is in year 8 at Calrossy Anglican School. The pair also have three other children who live and work in Sydney.
Mrs Waller is on long service leave at the moment, but from the start of next year she'll begin teaching at Gunnedah South Public School.
They're settling into the Gunnedah community well, having moved over from Warialda, where Mr Waller was the senior minister at the Anglican church there for 15 years.

Prior to this, they were in Boggabri, Moree, and Uralla.
Mr Waller said the move to the Gunnedah shire came about as he wanted a position that was a bit more challenging than a small town church.
"This was the position that came up, and we looked at it and thought it would be a good thing for us and good thing for the people here," he said.
"I also wanted to make a contribution to the future of the diocese that we're in so to take on a more senior role in the diocese, because Gunnedah is considered a training parish.
"So we came here partly for those reasons and to give the people in Warialda a break from us, a fresh face to look at."
The family has only lived here since the start of the month, but already they feel very welcomed by the locals.
"Everyone's been welcoming, the church has been fantastic. That's one of the beautiful parts of being part of a church, you've got a family no matter where you go," Mr Waller told the NVI.
"[Gunnedah] is partly familiar because we were eight years in Boggabri. We used to come into Gunnedah quite a lot and we've still got friends here who we haven't connected with for a long time so it'll be nice to catch up with them."
With the pandemic still lingering, the church hasn't been able to hold it's usual welcoming gathering, so the husband and wife team are introducing themselves in a COVID-safe way.
"We're going around to different people's houses and seeing small groups so that'll continue over the next two to three weeks to meet new people," Mr Waller said.
