Libraries are no longer just book places but also people spaces, and we have plenty of events every week.
This week we have Junior Brain Games after school activity again. This program runs every Wednesday afternoon from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and includes such activities as join the dots, find the objects, mazes, word games, memory activity, reading and comprehension, and sometimes some handicrafts such as origami.
The program is aimed at children eight to 12 years and targets different brain activities, such as creativity, number skills, word association, pattern recognition, vocabulary, and memory. It's a fun, free program, but bookings are essential as we can only accept 10 children.
Please ring the library on 6740 2190 to secure a place for your child.

There's also Toddler Time for little ones up to four years every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning. There's story reading and a handicraft to add to the fun. No bookings are required for this session - just come along and enjoy!
Plenty of new books have been added to the shelves during the last week, including some of the delightful Alphaprints picture book sets. Titles include 'Australian animals: mothers and babies', 'Silly squid and other fishy friends' and 'Hungry hipp and other safari friends'.
The lovely photographic pictures of these board books for children are formed by textured thumbprints with fun items such as pizza slices, buttons, leaves and fruits and vegetables. So the books are multi faceted - the child can feel the textures, identify the objects, recognise the words, and marvel at the imagination and perhaps create their own thumbprint masterpiece!
Readers who have problems with print on the normal books will be delighted to know that fifty additional Large Print books have been processed and are ready to be checked out and read.
Amongst the new titles are 'Sisters at war' by Mill Adams. The book is set in Jersey and England during World War II, and recounts the life of sisters Bryony and Hannah.
Three new thrillers have hit the shelves!
'Winter grave' by Helene Tursten has been described as 'a breathless thriller that's impossible to put down.' Alex North has written 'The shadow friend' which is 'as terrifying as a great horror novel, as unpredictable as the best type of crime novel and above all beautifully written'.
And 'The silent wife' by bestselling author Karin Slaughter is her latest thriller.
