The council's economic development officer Emily Wilson says the council is holding a competition called 'Share Your Start-up Story' to showcase the strong role small business plays in the shire's economy.
"We have more than 1100 small businesses in the Gunnedah shire, and they cover a huge diversity of services and products," Ms Wilson said.
"Our small businesses provide critical support for our industries and are themselves an irreplaceable and very vibrant part of our economy.
"We would like people to share their stories as an inspiration to those who have been through similar journeys or are thinking about starting their own business. It's also a wonderful way to get to know more about our local businesses."
