The accused did not appear in Tamworth Children's Court on Wednesday as Legal Aid solicitor Wendy McAuliffe had the matter adjourned for charge certification.
The charge certificate will specify exactly which offences the accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will face when the case is committed.
The accused will remain in custody until the case returns in November.
Oxley detectives allege the murder occurred on a property near Gunnedah about 7am on July 8.
